Your investment has a direct impact on building resources, health, safety, and connection in rural communities.
To grow this work, we need two things: money and people. We are seeking access to unrestricted funding that can fuel our engine of innovative and locally-driven solutions.
Please consider contributing to our work in one of the following ways:
Gifts made on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis are the most impactful type of donation you can contribute to ROI. It helps us forecast our revenue accurately and frees up staff time so they can focus on our resilience-building initiatives.
Make a three or five-year pledge of any amount to show your long-term support of long-term solutions. This helps us build organizational sustainability.
If you’re inspired to give, but not ready to make a recurring or long-term commitment, this is the best option. We appreciate you being part of our work no matter how much you give.
No matter how big, your investment has a direct impact on building resources, health, safety, and connection in rural communities.
These resources are vital to sustain our current work and build on it. Here is what we plan to accomplish in the next year.
We have a track record of building resilient communities and we’re ready to scale and replicate our work.

You belong in ROI’s community of supporters if:
Less than 1% of philanthropic dollars end up being invested in majority-minority, rural communities like our own, and with your help, we can change that. In just five years, ROI has reached over 15,000 people on a budget of less than $500,000/year. Think of what we’ll be able to accomplish with an expanded budget. We’ll be able to expand our inclusive model to more communities, building community-driven, trauma-informed solutions in three times as many institutions, and impacting 10x the citizens that we currently reach.
There is a demand for ROI’s solutions and insights in many settings: public agencies, schools, nonprofits, even socially-minded businesses. We have created a revenue generating model that covers 40% of our budget by selling innovative, trauma-informed solutions to communities outside of rural Eastern NC. Our revenue generating model builds organizational sustainability in the long-term. This means that your investment in ROI is an investment in our growth: developing new initiatives and scaling proven initiatives.

We seek to grow by building the capacity of leaders in other communities to adapt ROI’s successful initiatives to their local contexts. We will share what we know and support the community to tailor solutions based on their goals, keeping the power and the ownership of the project within the community. This approach is counter to many organizations’ efforts to impose uniform solutions on a wide scale without accounting for local context.
If you’re looking for an overview of ROI, the Case for Support is a great place to start! It covers our story, our mission and vision, what we do, our impact, and how you can help.
Our vision is a country where diverse rural communities build safety, health, connection, and self-determination from within. We’re up against a lot in achieving this vision and we don’t have time to waste. Please donate today.
