Community engagement is key to creating a strong and effective organization. By engaging with the community, you can get feedback and input on important decisions, and you can also build relationships with community members.
RLI is the first social accelerator program in the country that is based in a rural community, focuses on public agencies (instead of startups), and centers on healing trauma.

No matter what kind of community you work in, you may have preconceived ideas about what it would be like to work in a place completely different than your own. If you live and work in an urban setting, imagine for a minute what it might be like to live in a rural setting.
If you work in the nonprofit world, chances are you’re called to help others. It’s extremely rewarding to know that your work improves lives–it’s why we love this work.
At some point, we all encounter a complex project, problem, or opportunity at work. You might have a large, multi-faceted event to plan, a new partnership to navigate, or an emerging program to design
In any type of setting, there’s some sort of power hierarchy. Whether it’s a classroom or an international development, there is an inherent power dynamic.
In society, we see many gaps that need to be filled. From inequality in educational outcomes to health outcomes, there are disparities between communities based on their resources.
Imagine you did a favor for a trusted friend. You are happy to do the favor, even if it means you have to go a little out of your way. However, imagine that your friend never acknowledged or thanked you for helping them out.
